Timo Werner (Germany)
The 26-year-old RB Leipzig attacker will miss the remainder of 2022 after suffering an ankle injury during their 4-0 Champions League triumph against Shakhtar Donetsk at the beginning of November.
Pogba, Paul (France)
Pogba suffered a preseason knee injury that required surgery to repair a torn meniscus in September. The 29-year-old midfielder started working out again, but on October 31 his agent announced that the player would not play again for either Juventus or the world champions before the World Cup.
Pedro Neto (Portugal)
The Wolverhampton Wanderers winger, 22, will have surgery for an ankle injury sustained in October against West Ham United.
Scott Kennedy (Canada)
The 25-year-old defender was playing for SSV Jahn Regensburg in the German second tier when he unexpectedly suffered a shoulder injury.
Togo Kante (France)
The Chelsea midfielder’s recovery from a hamstring injury that has limited him to two league matches this season has hit a roadblock. Following surgery, he will be out for four months.
Reece James (England)
The 22-year-old right back declared he will not play for England after suffering a knee injury in Chelsea’s Champions League match against AC Milan in October.
Diogo Jota (Portugal)
Due to a calf injury sustained in Liverpool’s triumph against Manchester City, the forward will miss the competition, but manager Juergen Klopp of the Premier League team claimed he would not need surgery.
Boubacar Kamara (France)
The Aston Villa midfielder will be sidelined until after the World Cup due to a knee ligament injury he sustained in September.
Arthur Melo (Brazil)
A muscle injury was sustained by the midfielder on loan from Liverpool ahead of a Champions League match against Rangers in October.
